What applies legally

Since 1 October 2024, tobacco products, nicotine pouches and e-cigarettes (with and without nicotine) may only be sold in Switzerland to people aged 18 and over, including online. Snus has been legal in Switzerland since 2019. Disposable e-cigarettes are not banned nationally, but some cantons such as Valais and Geneva have their own bans. In addition, since a Federal Supreme Court ruling of 14 April 2026, a tank limit of 2 ml applies to disposable devices; hybrid devices with an additional tank are no longer marketable.
